National VPC Invited to take part in the Lord Mayors Show
Units Invited to apply for places
THIS OPPORTUNITY HAS NOW CLOSED TO APPLICANTS
Saturday the 14th November 2015 will see the 800th anniversary of the Lord Mayor of London’s Show, an annual parade through the streets of the City of London, a vibrant mix of state ceremony, military parade and carnival, attended by half a million people and viewed live on television by millions each year.
This year the National VPC have been invited by their partners, ASDAN, to enter a body of Cadets into the parade to march with the other participants. The theme for this year is “Maritime” and hence we have sought the assistance of Teen Marine, the charity set up by two former Cadet Leaders to enable the enjoyment of the marine environment by young people from deprived areas, proud owners of “The RiB from Gib”, Hot Fuzz, a 9m RiB donated by the Gibraltar Police after being seized. In addition we have sought the attendance of the MPS Corps of Drums from Greenwich VPC for their musical accompaniment.
Forces who are currently using the ASDAN accredited workbooks are invited to nominate Cadets and Staff to take part in this event. Staff and Cadets are expected to make their own way to the event with a meet time of 0900 on the day. At this time the National VPC are unfortunately unable to pay for any travel or accommodation costs.
We have been asked to supply between 30 and 40 Cadets. Each force selected to take part will get at least 5 places, possibly more depending on demand.
If you are interested in getting involved please contact Jon Thompson from the NVPC team at email@example.com

This year the annual Ellan Vannin Fuels Challenge will be run over the weekend of Friday 18th September – Sunday 20 September.
The weekend will compromise of a competition of outward bound activities. Last year we undertook ten challenges such as the onsite assault course, climbing wall, team building exercises. There is a reservoir to the rear of the building which the site have boats, Kayaks ect. which we can use. I was looking to have a first aid comp aswell.
Some photographs of last year’s event taken by the Sea Cadets.
The only cost to the group will be the travel, and a £20 entrance fee for each team. I will arrange Transport to and from the site.
The accommodation and food will be provided and we will be camping on site (tents provided). There is great onsite facilities and onsite sleeping arrangements for those who do not want to “rough” it!
Last year we had 8 teams of 6 persons, however, obviously we can change this to accommodate more numbers.
Foot passenger price will be £33 return per adult and £19 return for under 16’s. (This is a special discounted price). The bookings will all need to be made through Steam Packet Holidays by telephoning 01624 645777 and mentioning “POLICE CADETS”.

Friday 18 September 2015 departing Liverpool at 1115 and from Heysham at 1415
Sunday 20 September 2015 departures to Heysham at 0845 and 1945 with a departure to Liverpool at 1500
We are not holding any allocations on the ferries so space will be subject to availability and early booking is advised
In relation to flying, Flybe and EasyJet Fly to the Island, however, I cannot arrange discount travel for Flying. The idea at the moment would be… Friday arrive, meet and greet get settled, have open fire in Viking longhouse, some team building events ect..
Saturday completion all day followed by BBQ in the evening.
Sunday preparation for returning home.
